Sondag Sound - Magical, Folk, Pagan, Celtic and Wiccan songs
Søndag Søund - Get to know the Irish harpist and singer Amy McAllister

Søndag Søund brings, on Sundays, artists and songs somehow related to Pagan traditions, to Wicca, to witchcraft, and to magic.

And this is our fist post in English!

This post is very personal. Last Friday 13th (!) we had the opportunity to watch a performance from Amy McAllister, an Irish Harpist at XI Rio Harp Festival CCBB in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The programme description stated only "Celtic songs and her own songs for harp and singing".

When the performance began, Amy entered the stage wearing a traditional white and green Celtic dress. Her harp sound created a magical environment, beyond time and space and we could travel from that moment to some other distant ages.

Among traditional folk songs from Ireland and Scotland she also played some of her own amazing songs.

As if this wasn't enough, we were gifted with a featuring performance of the Brazilian Uilleann Piper Alex Navar, a member of Sensessional, Tuatha de Dannan e Kernunna bands. He brought even more magic to the performance.

Right after the performance we had the opportunity to have a small conversation with this amazing musician. She said she loved performing in Rio and that she was looking forward to coming back soon.

Watching Amy McAllister performance was such a unique experience!

Amy McAllister - Ae Fond Kiss

Below you can listen and read the lyrics for Ae Fond Kiss with Amy McAllister )O(

Amy McAllister
~ Ae Fond Kiss ~

Ae fond kiss, and then we sever;
Ae fareweel, alas, for ever!
Deep in heart-wrung tears I'll pledge thee,
Warring sighs and groans I'll wage thee!
Who shall say that Fortune grieves him
While the star of hope she leaves him?
Me, nae cheerfu' twinkle lights me,
Dark despair around benights me.

I'll ne'er blame my partial fancy;
Naething could resist my Nancy;
For to see her was to love her,
Love but her, and love for ever.
Had we never loved sae kindly,
Had we never loved sae blindly,
Never met—or never parted,
We had ne'er been broken-hearted.

Fare thee weel, thou first and fairest!
Fare thee weel, thou best and dearest!
Thine be ilka joy and treasure,
Peace, enjoyment, love, and pleasure!
Ae fond kiss, and then we sever!
Ae fareweel, alas, for ever!
Deep in heart-wrung tears I'll pledge thee,
Warring sighs and groans I'll wage thee!
